Ideas are
very important to the Houston Space Society. From the very first, the exploration, settlement, and utilization of space has been a
set of ideas. Some of Earth's greatest minds have dedicated themselves to examining these ideas over hundreds of years, and
building upon the ideas of their predecessor. See where we've gone with some of the concepts, or add your own thoughts.
Projects are
the way in which we create the future from our ideas. The Houston Space Society is dedicated to the concept that the best
projects will lead to business ventures. Indeed, many companies have been formed out of the groups of individuals brought
together by HSS. Even so, we're working on some projects of our own right now. One of these is the design, manufacture,
and launch of a very small satellite. Another is to identify, comment on, and publish materials related
to the legal issues surrounding Operation Lightning Strike. You can help.
The Journal for Space Development is how we communicate with each other and our friends in the space development community. Read some recent issues, or submit your own material for publication. We welcome all viewpoints, though we don't guarantee to publish everything we receive.
The Houston Space Institute is the educational institution of the Houston Space Society. The centerpiece of this school is the Alvin O. Carley Memorial Library. Learn what we have to offer your educational endeavors. If you are in the Houston area and would like to participate in an independent course of study on any space-related topic, we have a number of adjunct faculty who are eager to teach.
Visions of the Future is an online magazine dedicated to exploring concepts about the future of humanity. Topics include space settlement, ocean development, new countries, life extension, and information technology. Visions of the Future is owned by the Houston Space Society and others. Publication on this new magazine is expected to begin soon.
